Week of May 3 – 9: Total positive test results (on-campus testing and self-reports): 22. The weekly positivity rate is 4.47%. This is the final update for ISU’s COVID-19 Public Health Data website (weekly and daily data) and the last weekly snapshot. All information will be archived.

On-Campus Target* Testing (Cumulative) from 01/01/21-05/07/21

Percent of individuals identified as COVID-19 positive through testing conducted on-campus, not including move-in testing, from 01/01/21 - 05/07/21

*Target testing includes individuals who are symptomatic, individuals who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and NCAA-required athletics testing. Athletics testing data is a combination of target testing and surveillance testing and, therefore, has an overall lower positivity percentage. The athletics testing is also reported separately by the ISU Athletics Department.

On-Campus Target Testing (Cumulative) by Campus Population from 01/01/21-05/07/21

Number of individuals identified as COVID-19 positive through testing conducted on-campus, not including move-in testing, from 01/01/21 - 05/07/21 broken down by employee/student.

Individuals identified as COVID-19 positive through on-campus testing by week since the week beginning 01/25/21

*Target testing includes individuals who are symptomatic, individuals who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and NCAA-required athletics testing. Campus Community Active Isolation Data Beginning Week of 8/17/20

Number of individuals within the campus community (including faculty, staff, and students) who are actively in isolation* by week, since the week beginning 01/25/21

Campus Community Active Close Contact Data

Number of individuals within the campus community (including faculty, staff, and students) who are actively in quarantine* and number of close contacts who have gone on to test positive, since the reporting period ending 01/17/21. Weekly quarantine totals are calculated on the last day of each reporting period and encompass the prior 14-day quarantine period.

*Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. All close contacts who later tested positive have been instructed to isolate according to CDC guidelines.

In an effort to provide a more meaningful public health perspective for close contact and quarantine information, the presentation of this data was modified on 9/14/20. An archived version of the original close contact and quarantine graph is available here.

Iowa State University has not received any reports of COVID-19 related hospitalizations among faculty, staff, and students since Aug. 1, 2020. Due to privacy regulations, however, employees and students are not required to report hospitalizations to Iowa State University. Notes:
  • In an effort to provide more consistent data, we will now be associating all test results on the day in which the sample was collected rather than the day in which the test was resulted. As a result of this change, past weekly test data has slightly changed. If needed for reference or comparison, you can still access the previous webpage, but the data on this archived page will no longer be updated. In addition, date ranges have been added to weekly test results as well as a breakdown of the campus population and isolation and quarantine data.
  • ISU reports all test results to IDPH.  Delays in data processing may result in ISU statistics appearing different from IDPH statistics.
  • Employee and patient confidentiality laws prohibit us from disclosing the identities of individuals.
  • It’s important to note that any individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 has been instructed to isolate, and any individual who has met the CDC definition of having close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (<6 ft for at least 15 consecutive minutes) has been instructed to quarantine according to CDC guidelines.
